초록	The status o f renal replacement therapy in Korea was reported on the information base from the questionnaire to all hemodialysis center. 1) The response rate to the questionnair was increased to 78.5%. 2) The number of dialysis center increased by 12.5% to 135 centers and hemodialysis machine number was 1, 705 at the end of 1993. 3) The patient number of renal replacement therapy was 11,997, which composed with 6,611 (55.1%, ) hemodialysis patients and 1,812 (15.1 % ) peritoneal dialy- sis and 3,574 (29.8%) renal transplants. The sex ratio of dialysis patients was 59: 41 and the sixth deca4e patients was most frequent age group (23.2%). 4) The number of new patient in 1993 was 4,443 which was first decrement from 1992 (4,553) in the series of this study. 5) The most frequent primary renal disease was chron- ic glomerulonephritis (21.4%) followed by diabetes (19.2 %) and hypertensive nephrosclerosis (14.6% ). 6) The first year dialysis patient survival was 94.8%, and three year survival was 89.8%. The diabetes dialysis patients survival was 88.6% at the end of first year, 67.8 % at the end of third year. 7) The frequent causes of death in dialysis therapy were cardiovascular disease (58%) and infection (18% ). 8) The frequency and time of dialysis were gradually increased and proportion of longer duration dialysed pa- tient was also increased. 9) The number of renal transplantation was 677 in Korea which was decrease from 765 in 1992.
